My Fair Lady - THE extraordinary concert happening in 2023
The Broadway classic My Fair Lady comes to Monsheim and Wiesbaden in 2023. With the Chamber Choir of Europe and the soloists Nora Friedrichs and Axel Herrig, the
Symphonic Accordion Orchestra Hessen (SAkkOH) presents one of history's most outstanding musicals.
Under the musical direction of Thomas Bauer, the first half of the program will be all about Ludwig van Beethoven, who celebrated his 250th birthday in 2020 and is
considered the most-performed classical composer. The demanding Symphony No. 4 (B flat major) Op. 60 is being played, between the great heroic symphonies that surround it, the third, the
"Eroica", as well as the fifth and sixth, "Symphony of Destiny" and "Pastorale", always in takes the background.
In the second part of the program, songs from the musical My Fair Lady will be performed. The masterpiece composed by Frederick Loewe takes place in the capital
London around 1912.
After a visit to the opera at the flower market near Covent Garden, the respected philology and phonetician Professor Higgins (Axel Herrig) meets the flower seller
Eliza Doolittle (Nora Friedrichs), who stands out with her particularly original dialect formulations. Colonel Pickering, the professor's friend, made a bet: if he could make Eliza a lady within
six months, he would pay for the flower girl's training. Higgins accepts the bet and henceforth teaches in a dressage-like manner in order to deprive Eliza of the coarse language...

The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace
Sir Karl Jenkins
Chamber Choir of Europe
(Direction Masis Aram Gözbek)
Haydn Orchester Bolzano und Trento
Süd Tirol Festival Merano
The Armed man: A Mass For Peace is one of the most performed contemporary works in the world.
Many sections of the work are worthy of close examination – not least the Agnus Dei and the Sanctus – but it’s the haunting Benedictus that captivates listeners to the greatest extent, leaving them begging for more. Jenkins’s writing for soulful cello is sublime and the heavenly choral accompaniment truly transports you to another place.
Never one to define himself by one set of beliefs, Jenkins uses all sorts of inspirations for the text of The Armed Man, including the Muslim call to prayer, the sixteenth-century 'L’Homme armé' Mass tradition, and ancient religious texts.
Sir Karl Jenkins will be joining the Chamber Choir of Europe and the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trentino for an unforgettable performance at the Merano Music Festival.
The Chamber Choir of Europe is made up of professional singers from throughout the continent, and guarantees the highest quality and is reputable for its empathetic and passionate choir concerts.
The repertoire of the choir is as diverse as the European culture. It significantly contributes to the development of cultural dialogue and the mutual understanding of the culture and history of the European people.
